A FEW HELPFUL ANSWERS

FAQ

Everything behind the game.

Why doesn’t Candle Rain require registration?

Candle Rain is designed to be easy to jump into. Players can open the game, choose a username, and play without creating an account, providing an email address, or remembering another password. This keeps the steps needed to play to a minimum and avoids collecting account details the game doesn’t need. The trade-off is that usernames aren’t reserved. Competition organizers can set their own participant verification and submission rules.

Why can different players use the same username?

Usernames are public display names, not reserved accounts, so different people can use the same name. Each game has its own unique Run ID, which keeps its record separate even when usernames match. The leaderboard groups matching usernames and shows their highest score for the selected mode, period, and competition code. A username identifies the leaderboard entry; a Run ID identifies one particular game and its result.

What is a Run ID, and where can it be found?

A Run ID is a unique identifier for one game, whether it is Single Round or Three Rounds. Once the game is completed and the result is saved, Share link copies a result link containing that Run ID. Opening the link retrieves the corresponding saved result and shows its competition code and result save time in UTC. The displayed time is when the server saved the result, not when the game started. Older signed links without a matching saved record may show that the code or save time is unavailable.

How can a result be submitted for a competition?

After your game finishes and the result is saved, use Share link to copy your result link. Submit it through the account and method required by the organizer. The organizer can open the link to check the saved username, score, duration, game mode, competition code, and result save date and time in UTC. Database access is not required. The code, mode, and save time must meet the competition’s rules and entry period. A different code for each competition helps distinguish events.

What does a Run ID prove, and should it be kept private?

A Run ID identifies one saved game and its result. It does not verify the player’s identity or reserve their username. Anyone with a result link can copy and share it. If the organizer uses private result links for reward claims, keep yours private until submission. For public submissions, follow the rules for linking results to participant accounts and handling duplicate claims. A valid result link does not automatically make a result eligible for every competition.

What counts as a completed game?

A completed game is a finished run whose result was successfully saved. Single Round counts as one game. Three Rounds also counts as one game, with three rounds recorded inside it. Unfinished games and results that have not been saved do not count.

Why does each username appear only once on a leaderboard?

Each leaderboard shows the highest score per username for the selected mode, period, and competition code. Recent Games shows individual saved games, so the same username can appear more than once.

Do Three Rounds scores count toward Single Round?

No. Single Round and Three Rounds have separate leaderboards. Three Rounds ranks the combined score from all three rounds.

How are the time periods calculated?

All periods use UTC. Weeks start on Monday at 00:00 UTC, and months follow calendar months. Last Week and Last Month mean the previous calendar week and month, not the last 7 or 30 days. This Week and This Month include results saved so far.

Does the weekly reset delete old scores?

No. Weekly shows scores from the current week. Older results remain stored and can appear in All Time and the corresponding week in History.

How can past competition leaderboards be found?

In History, select Competition, enter the code, then choose the week and game mode. Codes are not case-sensitive. Games played with a code also count toward Global leaderboards. The competition’s period and winner selection still follow the organizer’s rules.
